Historically, there has been a fundamental lack of transparency into the oilfield water disposal landscape. The collection of data and and the analysis will drive improvements and business development in the commercial oilfield water disposal market.
Local planning and management
An understanding of the future development of an oilfield, water sources, water production and saltwater disposal (SWD) assets within a defined geographical area is critical for a company’s future planning, management and business development.
However, water asset data is fragmented across the sector with little or no structure for data collection and analysis. Current practices in the COWDF and SWD sector is fragmented and relies mostly on legacy systems not to mention ‘grandfathered’ operations and facilities.
Analyzing water management and disposal trends effectively
To reach a proper level of productivity and profitability more automation is required. An initial quick win is the opportunity for the collection, analysis of data on a daily and hourly basis. This data set when combined with seasonal changes, environmental considerations, logistics and management costs can provide the functionality needed to grow a business rapidly and prepare for future trends (both up and down), especially those associated with oil price volatility.
